I was so proud of myself when I first asked about whether something was optional or not and when I was able to politely decline many aspects of care that were just unnecessary. It felt like a secret super-power and at times I even felt like some of the midwives I challenged were in agreement but needed it to come from me."
"Without our session I genuinely don't believe I would have had the skills or confidence to advocate for the home birth which happened in the end. I also avoided some unnecessary vaginal stitching I was nearly shipped into hospital for.
